Dr. Uzma Khan is a Consultant specializing in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Apollo Medical Centre’s Sugar Clinic in Kondapur.
With two decades of clinical experience, she focuses on managing conditions such as diabetes, obesity, thyroid disorders, and other hormone-related issues.
Dr. Uzma Khan earned her MBBS and MD in General Medicine from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. Following her MRCP(UK) qualification, she relocated to the UK to work within the NHS. She holds a Specialty Certificate in Endocrinology & Diabetes from the Royal College of Physicians, along with a PG Diploma and an MSc in Endocrinology from the University of South Wales, UK. Additionally, she is SCOPE certified in Obesity management by the World Obesity Federation.
Dr. Uzma Khan possesses extensive clinical experience in treating various endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, and conditions affecting the pituitary, adrenal, parathyroid glands, and reproductive endocrinology, such as fertility issues, hypogonadism, and PCOS.
She advocates for an evidence-based approach in her practice. Her background includes work in tertiary Endocrine referral units in the UK, recognized as ENETs accredited Centres of Excellence. She has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams addressing adrenal, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid tumors, and other rare endocrine cancers.
Furthermore, Dr. Khan has participated in research as an investigator in phase II and III randomized controlled trials focusing on obesity, diabetes (including cardiovascular outcomes), and other endocrine and metabolic disorders. She was also part of a multidisciplinary weight management team within the NHS, contributing to both tier 3 (medical) and tier 4 (surgical/bariatric) obesity management services.
Her areas of interest include thyroid disorders, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, diabetes technology (such as continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pumps), diabetes and thyroid issues during pregnancy, overweight and obesity, metabolic syndrome, and non-surgical obesity management.
