Dr. Ganesh krishnan Iyer

Dr. Ganeshakrishnan Iyer, an esteemed figure in the realm of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery with more than 25 years of experience, has successfully conducted over 12,000 open heart surgeries in the past 25 years. He has been actively engaged in intricate adult and pediatric cardiac surgeries, with a focus on mitral valve repair, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, aortic aneurysm, aortic valve-sparing procedure, and surgery for atrial fibrillation. Dr. Iyer served as the chief cardiovascular surgeon in renowned multi-specialty hospitals before assuming the role of lead consultant in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Aster RV. He possesses a wealth of experience in teaching, having trained graduate medical students in basic clinical surgery and patient management for routine and emergency cases. Dr. Iyer obtained his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Group of Hospitals University, Bombay, and completed his MCh in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital University, Bombay. Following his foundational training, he pursued fellowship training in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery in the US and Canada, including thoracic organ transplantation. Additionally, he served on the faculty at Karolinska University in Stockholm, Sweden for a period of two years.
