Dr. Tamonas Chaudhuri completed his medical education at B. S Medical College and Bankura Medical College, subsequently earning a Master of Surgery from the University of Calcutta after rigorous training at the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research in Kolkata, India.
At the age of thirty, he began his career in medical education at R G Kar Medical College in Kolkata, where he played a significant role in both surgical education and patient care.
He was instrumental in establishing the Minimal Invasive Surgery Unit at R G Kar Medical College, serving as its head for over three years.
Dr. Tamonas Chaudhuri is recognized as a pioneer in advancing Minimal Access Surgery within government institutions in West Bengal and has authored fifteen articles in various national and international journals.
His primary focus is on Minimal Access Surgery, having received training at GEM Hospital in Coimbatore and Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi under the mentorship of Prof. Palanivelu. Currently, he serves as the Secretary of the Minimal Access Surgeons of India and is a Governing Council Member of the Association of Surgeons of India.
He has also participated in national disaster management efforts, including flood relief initiatives in the Sunderban region.
Presently, Dr. Tamonas Chaudhuri works as a Consultant Surgeon at ILS Hospitals in Kolkata, while also holding the position of Professor of Surgery and senior faculty member, where he organizes training programs and courses aimed at enhancing surgical skills.
Additionally, he serves as an examiner for various universities in India and as an assessor for the Medical Council of India.
