Dr. Krishna Prasad is a Consultant Urologist at NU Hospitals in Bangalore. Following the completion of his MBBS and Masters in Surgery (MS), he pursued his Diplomate National Board (DNB) in Urology at the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre. This renowned institution is not only India’s largest stand-alone Nephro-Urology hospital but also the country’s only transplant university. Dr. Prasad’s training at this esteemed institute has provided him with extensive exposure to a wide range of complex transplant clinical scenarios, encompassing both live and cadaver kidney transplants.
Apart from his expertise in transplantation, Dr. Prasad has a keen interest in laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery and its application in Urology. He possesses exceptional skills in retroperitoneal laparoscopy, a specialized technique utilized in kidney surgeries. In fact, he is one of the few surgeons in Bangalore who routinely performs this procedure. Additionally, he is deeply passionate about vascular access (fistulae) creation, which is crucial for patients undergoing dialysis. To further enhance his knowledge and skills in this area, he has been awarded a fellowship for an observership at the prestigious Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the United States.
Dr. Prasad’s dedication to advancing the field of Urology extends beyond his clinical practice. He has organized specialized training programs for urologists from across the state, focusing on specific areas of Urology. He is an active member of various esteemed societies, including the Bangalore Urological Society (BUS), Karnataka Urological Association (KUA), Association of Southern Urologists (ASU), and Urological Society of India (USI). Furthermore, he plays a vital role as part of the Team NU – Urology Department, actively involved in training future super specialists in Urology.
