Dr. Ravi Krishna Kalathur completed his Anaesthesiology training at Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai. He subsequently pursued specialized training in Pain Management under Dr. Srinivas Chiravuri, the Director of the Implants Programme at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. Currently, he serves as an invited faculty member at the same Pain Clinic where he received his training. Dr. Kalathur holds the position of Senior Consultant in the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai.

Dr. Ravi Krishna Kalathur is recognized as a pioneer in the application of ultrasound for pain interventions, having received training in this area at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as in Germany and Austria. Notably, he is the first and only Pain Physician from India to be awarded the prestigious Certified Interventional Pain Sonologist (CIPS) certification by the World Institute of Pain in the USA.

Additionally, Dr. Ravi Krishna Kalathur is the sole Pain Management Specialist in India to hold both the FIPP and CIPS certifications from the World Institute of Pain. Dr. Kalathur also possesses a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound from the Spanish University UCAM and is the only American Board-certified specialist in Headache Medicine in India. He founded the Chennai Ultrasound Study Group (CUSG), an institution dedicated to teaching Pain Interventions, and regularly conducts workshops at international conferences focused on ultrasound and fluoroscopic-guided pain interventions.
