Dr. Ram Dasgupta commenced his career in Psychiatry in 1982. During his postgraduate studies from 1976 to 1978, he served as an assistant to the late Dr. Niranjan Chakraborty, who was the Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at several medical colleges.
This experience with Dr. Chakraborty was instrumental in providing him with essential insights into managing psychiatric cases in private practice.
Armed with practical knowledge and the confidence to make accurate diagnoses, select appropriate psychotropic medications, and understand their side effects and management, as well as identifying suitable candidates for electroconvulsive therapy and handling its complications, he launched his independent psychiatry practice.
Dr. Ram Dasgupta has successfully treated numerous psychiatric cases, although some particularly severe cases have resulted from interrupted treatment and prolonged periods of neglect.
Previously, he served as a visiting psychiatrist at the Sarkar Institute of Mental Health and Psychotherapeutical Research.
He is a fellow member of the Indian Psychiatric Society and has received multiple accolades.
Currently, he is an active senior psychiatrist practicing in Kolkata and regularly participates in seminars to stay updated on the latest advancements in psychiatry.
