Dr. Ram Chidambaram is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than 28 years in the field. He has established a specialized practice focusing on sports medicine and injuries related to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. His goal is to assist patients in returning to their pre-injury condition with exceptional outcomes. Dr. Chidambaram earned his D Ortho, MS Ortho, and DNB Ortho qualifications in India before moving to the UK, where he completed his FRCS (Surgery) and FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics).
Dr. Ram Chidambaram served as a consultant shoulder and upper limb surgeon for a decade. His advanced training includes fellowships in shoulder surgery in the UK, USA, and France, elbow surgery at the Mayo Clinic in the USA, and wrist surgery at institutions in Yale, USA, Hong Kong, and Japan. In 2011, he transitioned from a successful NHS practice to Chennai, where he founded a specialized upper limb surgery practice, quickly establishing it as a premier orthopaedic super-specialty. Over the past 13 years, he has conducted more than 4,500 keyhole surgeries, 1,100 joint replacements, and 3,000 trauma surgeries involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand.
Dr. Ram Chidambaram is a distinguished member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS). In 2017, he was elected President of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of India and received the presidential gold medal from Dr. Peter Brownson (President, BESS) in recognition of his contributions to upper limb surgery and his efforts to enhance its significance within Indian orthopaedics.
