Established a comprehensive Department of Nephrology that included both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as facilities for haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and renal transplantation from 1983 to 1991 and again from 1995 to 1996.
In 1996, Stanley Medical College Hospital performed the first cadaver renal transplantation within Tamil Nadu’s health services. The Department received recognition for its DNB course. Additionally, renal transplantation services were organized at both Government Rayapettah Hospital and Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in Chennai. A pioneering survey was conducted in Madras City to assess the awareness of cadaver transplantation among the residents of Chennai.
