Dr. Meenal Agarwal, MD (Obstetrics & Gynecology), DM in Medical Genetics, is a former faculty member at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow. She is a founding member of the Indian Academy of Medical Genetics (iamg.org). Her areas of expertise include:
1. Diagnosis and counseling for individuals with intellectual disabilities, genetic syndromes, dysmorphic features, autism, malformations (including those detected prenatally), skeletal dysplasias, and other genetic causes of short stature, as well as familial disorders of suspected genetic origin, including adult-onset genetic conditions such as hereditary cancers.
2. Preconception counseling for couples undergoing IVF, those with a previous child with a suspected genetic condition, individuals with a history of pregnancy loss, and pregnancies with ultrasound-detected malformations or positive screening results for aneuploidy.
3. Conducting high-resolution antenatal ultrasounds and performing invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), cord blood sampling, fetal reductions, intrauterine blood transfusions, and perinatal autopsies.
4. Executing, analyzing, and interpreting complex genomic tests, including microarray analysis, next-generation sequencing, and exome sequencing, while providing counseling to families regarding the results.
5. Offering post-test counseling to families facing complex outcomes from genetic testing.
