Dr. Jayapriya Ramas has dedicated the last 11 years to the practice of General, Laparoscopic, and Gastrointestinal surgery. She commenced her surgical journey at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai in 2006, where she received guidance from Dr. Patta Radhakrishna, a Senior Consultant in Surgical Gastroenterology, specializing in both Laparoscopic and open abdominal procedures. Following this, she pursued formal training in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at the World Laparoscopy Hospital.
Dr. Jayapriya Ramas then gained experience as a trainee in Gastrointestinal Surgery at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai before taking on the role of Consultant in Surgical Gastroenterology at SRM Institutes for Medical Science (SIMS) in Chennai, where she served for five years. She further enhanced her expertise as a Faculty member at the Cancer Institute in Adyar, Chennai, focusing on Gastrointestinal and HPB oncosurgery, which deepened her knowledge in managing Gastrointestinal cancers.
Her specialties include day care laparoscopic surgeries for gallbladder stones, hernias, and appendicitis. Common procedures she performs encompass laparoscopic gallbladder removal, laparoscopic appendectomy, both laparoscopic and open hernia surgeries, as well as surgeries for conditions such as piles, fissures, and fistulas. Additionally, she treats various gastrointestinal cancers, including stomach, small intestine, and colorectal cancers. Dr. Ramas has a particular interest in complex abdominal surgeries and emergencies, such as pancreatitis, jaundice, and reoperative surgeries when complications arise from previous operations. As a female surgeon, she is highly sought after by women in her region.
