Dr. D. Velmurugan, M.D. (PED), completed his postgraduate training at the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children (Govt. Children’s Hospital) in Egmore, Chennai, in October 2006. This institution is renowned for its expertise in managing childhood illnesses in South India. He possesses extensive experience in addressing a wide range of pediatric sub-specialties, including Neonatology, Cardiology, Hemato-Oncology, Pulmonology, and Gastroenterology.
Dr. D. Velmurugan serves as a visiting consultant at several prestigious hospitals in Chennai, such as the Billroth group of hospitals, G.G. Hospitals Nungambakkam, Aakash Fertility Center in Vadapalani, and Guest Hospitals on P.H. Road. He has a particular focus on neonatal resuscitation, having performed over 3,000 neonatal resuscitations since 2008, which includes care for preterm infants, very low birth weight (VLBW), and extremely low birth weight (ELBW) babies at leading infertility centers like G.G. Hospitals Nungambakkam and Aakash Fertility Center.
With more than five years of experience in managing preterm infants, VLBWs, and ELBWs in the NICU, he has worked at G.G. Hospitals Nungambakkam, Apollo First Med Hospital on P.H. Road, and the Billroth group of hospitals. Dr. Velmurugan is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), and the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Course (PEMC). He remains committed to professional development in pediatrics and neonatology by actively participating in both national and international conferences.
