Dr. Bipin Vibhute hails from the small village of Madgule in Atpadi, Sangli. He pursued his education at esteemed institutions in Chennai, Kerala, and Kolhapur. His career in organ transplantation began at Apollo Chennai, where he was part of a dedicated team that successfully completed over 700 transplants, including liver, kidney, pancreas, and small bowel procedures, over an 11-year span.
In 2016, he returned to Maharashtra and joined Sahyadri Hospital Deccan Gymkhana, where he established the organ transplant program, which has now become the third largest organ transplant center in India. Within less than three years, the center has conducted more than 300 liver transplants and achieved the highest number of simultaneous kidney-pancreas transplants at Sahyadri hospitals. The program has received recognition from the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) in Delhi.
Dr. Bipin Vibhute has been honored with several accolades, including the “Youth Icon of Pune” award from the Times of India in 2018, the “Best Organ Transplant Hospital in Maharashtra” by the Navbharat award in the same year, and a Guinness World Record for the maximum organ donation pledges collected in eight hours in August 2018. He also received the “London World Book Record” in February 2019 and the “Icon of Health” award in 2018.
Notably, he holds the record for successfully transplanting the smallest recipient at seven months old to the oldest at 71 years in Pune. He pioneered free liver transplants for pediatric patients up to 12 years old in Pune and offers EMI options for liver transplant patients, along with the highest number of simultaneous kidney-pancreas transplants in Maharashtra.
Currently, Dr. Bipin Vibhute is working to expand his transplant program throughout Maharashtra, driven by the mission to make organ transplants accessible and affordable across the state. His remarkable achievements at the young age of 39 are truly commendable.
