Dr. Alva serves as the Director of sports surgery and joint replacement surgery at Bangalore Hospitals, located in Jayanagar and Kengeri. He obtained his medical degree from KMC, Mangalore and completed his MS (Ortho) from RGUHS University in Bangalore. With a remarkable 13-year tenure in London and Melbourne, Dr. Alva gained extensive international training and exposure in the field of Orthopaedic surgery. His expertise lies in advanced arthroscopy and muscle sparing joint replacement procedures.
Dr. Alva’s international work experience includes specialized orthopaedic training at Northwest London and RNOH Stanmore. He also pursued superspecialist accredited fellowships in London (Complex knee and elite athlete surgery), Melbourne (Anterior Hip & Knee), and Canberra (Shoulder & Upper Limb).
Dr. Alva has made significant contributions to the field through his extensive research on knee cartilage and muscle preserving joint replacement surgery. His special interests encompass a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, including knee replacement (tissue sparing), bikini hip replacement (Direct Anterior), arthritis, sports injuries, fractures, tendonitis and muscle injuries, nerve compression, and advanced arthroscopy (knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, ankle, wrist).
