Dr. Arun Kalyanasundaram, MD, has been appointed as the Director of APCTO in India, recognized as a leading authority in Cardiology, particularly in Chronic Total Occlusion Interventions (complete heart blockages) both in the United States and internationally. He received his training at prestigious institutions in the United States, including the Cleveland Clinic, which has held the top rank in cardiology for the past 23 years. Most recently, he led the CTO PCI program at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, USA, and previously served as the Chief of Cardiology at Highline Medical Center, also in Seattle.
Dr. Arun Kalyanasundaram is a consultant for various companies specializing in CTOs and is highly sought after as a proctor for teaching this procedure both in the US and abroad, with numerous publications in the field. In addition to his academic role at the University of Washington in Seattle, he has been a full-time proctor for CTOs in the Asia-Pacific region, promoting the “Hybrid CTO” approach.
Currently, he provides patient care in India at two locations: New Delhi, where he is the Director of Interventional Cardiology and Head of the CTO PCI program at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, and Chennai, at Promed Multi-Speciality & Diagnostic Centre. His areas of expertise include complex coronary angioplasty, treatment of calcified vessels, bifurcations, complete blockages, atherectomy, laser angioplasty, and rotational atherectomy.
