Dr. Surendra Ugale serves as the Chief of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Asian Bariatrics in Hyderabad, along with its affiliated centers in Vijayawada, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, and Siliguri.
He is also a Visiting Professor of Surgery at KLE University in Belgaum. Since 1991, he has been dedicated to advancing laparoscopic surgery, contributing to its adoption across various regions in India and internationally.
In 2008, his team became the second globally to implement Laparoscopic Ileal Interposition for Type 2 Diabetes. Additionally, he developed a novel scoring system known as the Diabetes Severity & Remission Score.
Currently, his primary focus is on Metabolic Surgery for Diabetes and Obesity, and he serves as a proctor at both national and international medical centers.
