Dr. Rufus Vasanth Raj serves as the Senior Consultant and Clinical Lead for Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine at the Rela Institute of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery. He is a fellowship-trained surgeon with more than a decade of expertise in Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty, Trauma, and Sports Medicine. Dr. Raj began his medical journey at the esteemed Madras Medical College and has received advanced training in Orthopaedics from various prestigious institutions worldwide. His extensive trauma training was primarily conducted at the Sundaram Medical Foundation.
Dr. Rufus Vasanth Raj completed a Joint Replacement (Arthroplasty) Fellowship at Ganga Hospital, which is affiliated with MGR University, and subsequently pursued an Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Ortho One Hospital, recognized by the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS). Dr. Raj has honed his skills at several international institutions, including specialized training in Complex Trauma in Shanghai, China, and advanced techniques in Hip Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty, and Cartilage Restoration in Spain.
Dr. Rufus Vasanth Raj is among the few specialists in Hip Arthroscopy in India. His significant experience in Shoulder and Knee Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty has been gained from training in Australia, Germany, and Singapore. Renowned in his field, Dr. Raj has achieved remarkable results and high patient satisfaction in Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty, Orthobiologics, Trauma, and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Rufus Vasanth Raj is recognized as a National Faculty member for various State and Indian Orthopaedic Conferences and has contributed numerous publications to both national and international journals, enhancing the knowledge of his fellow orthopaedic professionals. Currently, he serves as a reviewer for the European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology and the Indian Journal of Orthopaedics. Dr. Raj is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy, the Indian Arthroscopy Society, the Indian Society of Hip & Knee Surgeons, the Indian Cartilage Society, and AO Trauma.
