Dr. Nitin Pai serves as the Consultant and Head of Gastroenterology and GI Endoscopy services at Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune. With almost 23 years of expertise in his specialized fields, Dr. Nitin Pai excels in conducting advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures, addressing a variety of gastric and hepatic disorders, and managing emergency situations involving GI bleeding and foreign body extractions. He operates a private clinic in Shivajinagar, where consultations are available by appointment. Additionally, Dr. Nitin Pai holds the position of Honorary Assistant Professor in Gastroenterology at BJ Medical College in Pune.
Dr. Nitin Pai completed his DM training in Gastroenterology at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai from 2000 to 2003, achieving first place in the DM examination in July 2003, for which he received a Gold Medal from Mumbai University. Throughout his DM training, he gained extensive experience in both diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures, including gastroscopies, colonoscopies, ERCP, motility studies, manometry, and pH studies.
He further enhanced his skills in advanced therapeutic endoscopy under the mentorship of Dr. Amit Maydeo at the prestigious “Digestive Diseases Center” in Mumbai for a year (2003-2004). During this time, he assisted in and performed complex procedures such as biliary and pancreatic ERCP, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for early GI cancers, endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), argon plasma coagulation (APC), and enteral stenting.
This center is recognized globally as a leading training facility, attracting numerous aspiring endoscopists for hands-on experience, particularly in ERCP, with over 1,000 procedures conducted annually. Dr. Pai independently performed more than 100 ERCP procedures during his training.
In the initial phase of his career, Dr. Nitin Pai distinguished himself as one of the few gastroenterologists skilled in EUS, executing therapeutic EUS procedures such as pseudocyst drainage, fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) for lymph node staging, and celiac ganglion block.
