Dr. Ayyappan S has long been dedicated to both sports and medicine. He initially served as the sports secretary and subsequently became the general secretary of Madras Medical College. Recognizing the significant demand in the field, Dr. Ayyappan focused his career on Surgical Oncology, completing his specialist surgical degree at the esteemed Adyar Cancer Institute in 1996.
Dr. Ayyappan S has contributed over ten years of service to the Institute. In 2007, he established the Madras Cancer Care Foundation to provide comprehensive, high-quality care for cancer patients. His unwavering dedication to his field was recognized when he received a doctoral award in cancer from TN Medical University in 2013.
Additionally, he leads the Chennai Chapter of Oncologists and oversees the DNB Surgical Oncology education program at Apollo Hospitals. Dr. Ayyappan also serves as a visiting and honorary consultant at several prominent institutions in Chennai and Trivandrum, frequently representing Chennai and India as a faculty member at numerous national and international cancer conferences.
