Dr. Anish M Kurias was born on January 11, 1975, to Mr. Mathew Paul Kurias and Mrs. Elsy Mathew in the remote village of Kattampack in Kottayam district, Kerala, India. His interest in Ayurveda began at the age of eight, inspired by his grandfather, Mr. Kurian Paul Kurias, a renowned toxicologist. Under his grandfather’s rigorous training, Dr. Kurias developed a keen eagerness to learn more about Ayurveda. It took him four years of intense training to enhance his observation skills alone. At the age of 13, he delved into the basics of Ayurveda and herbal drug preparations. By 14, he was assisting his grandfather in treating snake bites and non-curable wounds caused by toxins.
His grandfather recognized his grandson’s passion for Ayurveda and began teaching him the secrets of palm leaf manuscripts, turning him into an expert in curing chronic diseases. After completing his Pre-degree course at CMS College Kottayam in 1993, he pursued his BAMS at Ashwini Ayurvedic Medical College Davengere. Dr. Jagadish Yagi, a living Charaka, inspired him during his college years.
In 1998, he graduated with a university medal and began his medical practice in his village, establishing The Earth (Evergreen Ayurvedic Resort for Traditional Healing) Group of Hospitals. Dr. Kurias also served as a part-time faculty at various colleges in India, sharing his unique knowledge in Toxicology. Additionally, he provided his services as a part-time doctor at the Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine and Research in Bangalore, impressing his seniors and teachers with his expertise.
